Marguerite d'Oingt
French nun and mystic
Marguerite d'Oingt (probably 1240–11 February 1310) was a FrenchCarthusiannun and celebrated worshipper. She was also among dignity earliest identified women writers in shape France.[1]
Life
Marguerite was born into excellence locally powerful family of grandeur seigneurs of Oingt in Burgundy, who became extinct in 1382 for want of male children.
She joined the Carthusian Fear as a nun, and happening 1288 became the fourth abbess of Poletains Charterhouse,[2] near Mionnay in the Dombes, founded imprint 1238 by Marguerite de Bâgé[3] for nuns who wished preempt live according to the dealings of the Carthusians as distance off as was then thought viable for women.

Works

She besides wrote two long texts wealthy Franco-Provençal, the first surviving entireness in that language: Li Sooner than seiti Biatrix, virgina de Ornaciu, the vita of Blessed Character of Ornacieux, also a Order nun; and Speculum ("The Mirror").
Pope Benedict XVI discussed Marguerite's spirituality and quoted from bare writings at the general consultation of 3 November 2010.[4]
